UK’s zero emission bus deployment plans gain momentum

Posted on

A bulk procurement process for fuel cell buses was launched last week, with the publication of a tender by Transport for London. Working in partnership with several other UK cities (Aberdeen, Birmingham, Dundee), TfL is inviting potential suppliers of hydrogen fuel cell buses to join a framework for the supply of single and double decker vehicles to cities across the UK and potentially further afield. The zero tailpipe emission fuel cell buses will replace diesel vehicles and thus form a key element of each city’s plans to address poor air quality and other environmental issues.

Further information is available from the full press release.

This activity is part of the JIVE project, which Element Energy is coordinating having formed the consortium and led a successful application to the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking for European funding.
