Fluid and thermal issues are often critical to the success of a new product. Iterative prototype manufacture and testing can be extremely expensive. Virtual prototype modelling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) significantly reduces development time and cost.
Examples of our recent product design work include:
- Thermofluids
CFD is a vital tool in the design of electronics packaging and solar thermal devices where overheating needs to be avoided. Design iterations can proceed quickly, leading to a cost-effectively optimised design.
- Diffuser design
Improvement of fresh air throw by identifying and removing areas of high turbulence.
- Wind turbine augmentation
Use of nearby bluff bodies to accelerate the flow of air through a wind turbine.
