Element Energy

Strategy & Policy

The low carbon energy, building and transport sectors are changing rapidly.  At Element Energy we predict these changes and help our clients to understand their impacts and the opportunities they will create. This strategic advice is supported by strong policy insights. We have become one of the government’s most trusted advisers on policy in the low carbon energy and transport sectors and have helped shape many of the policies that will be instrumental in driving the transition to a lower carbon economy.

We use quantitative techniques to predict growth of markets for energy services and new technologies. These techniques can be used to analyse how these markets will be influenced by policy, technical innovation and consumer behaviour. We are able to use these analyses to advise policy-makers on effective policy design and also to assist our commercial clients to develop business strategies, make informed investment decisions and focus their technology development.

Our understanding of markets for technologies is often underpinned by geographical analyses of resources and patterns of demand for energy services. We apply these techniques to provide advice at a local level on policies to drive low carbon growth and to foster economic development in the low carbon sector. Our strategic and policy advice is supported by our strong technical knowledge and engineering expertise. We combine these skills to develop energy strategy for regions and for specific developments.

Our work spans diverse areas of the low carbon space, from microgeneration to carbon capture and storage and from biofuels for aviation to hydrogen for road vehicles. We work for policy-makers at all levels and our private sector clients range from technology start-ups to multinationals. We understand the interdependencies across the sectors we work in and our strategic and policy advice for all our clients is reinforced by this breadth of expertise and experience.
